Years ago, I launched my first consulting business with a partner.
I had plenty of business experience and professional skills, but not much confidence. So, what do you do when you’re stepping into consulting for the first time? You play by what you get as ‘the rules’.
We built a serious brand—logo, name, offices, fancy cars, and suits.
We’d meet clients with an ‘all-business’ attitude, because, let’s be real—who would take us seriously otherwise?
We specialized in tackling complex, high-stakes problems for some very large companies.
Our clients came from all sorts of fields—retail, food, finance, aviation, oil, health, tech—you name it. But unlike the classic consulting firms, we never offered off-the-shelf solutions. Every project was about finding practical, grounded answers to unique challenges.
Over time, though, I realized that the “serious” branding wasn’t what clients valued.
It wasn’t the image, the offices, or the cars that brought people to us. It was the partnership, the insight, and the support we offered when they were at major crossroads, and in those moments, we became a real partner.
When COVID hit, it was just the final push to close the company and take a step back to rethink.
The break gave me the time and space to realize that what I truly loved wasn’t the corporate image—it was making a real difference for people, helping them see the big picture, make decisions, and move forward.
So here I am again, but this time, it’s just ‘Before & After’—no fluff, no suits, no fancy cars.
